Mackenzie Van Bogart (Jr.) – Girls Track & Field
Junior Mackenzie Van Bogart delivered an outstanding performance Saturday at the Cashmere Invitational, competing against a strong 16-team field. Van Bogart claimed first place in the 800 meters with a personal-record time of 2:19.52. She also recorded another personal best in the 1500 meters, placing second in 5:04.18, and contributed to Cashmere’s 4×400 relay team, which finished fourth with a season-best time.
Head coach Jeff Kenoyer highlighted both her performance and versatility:
“Mackenzie had a great day at the Cashmere Invitational. Mackenzie is usually a standout in the 800 run along as being our fastest leg on the 4 x 400 relay and the races at the Invitational were no exception. She ran a personal best of 2:19.52 (currently the 3rd fastest in State 1A) and anchored our 4 x 400 relay to a season best time. Earlier in the week, Mackenzie asked about running a 1600 meter race so she ran our Invitational equivalent 1500 run. She finished second in 5:04.18 which converts to about 5:26 for a 1600 run (which would be the 7th fastest in State 1A). It was an excellent day for Mackenzie.”
Albin Eskew (Soph.) – Boys Tennis
Sophomore Albin Eskew has put together an exceptional season for the Cashmere boys tennis team. Playing first singles, Eskew is a perfect 11-0 on the year, helping lead the Bulldogs to a 10-2 overall record and a 9-1 mark in conference play. He is aiming to return to the 1A state tournament this spring after reaching the state semifinals last season.
Head coach Tasha Key praised his growth and dedication:
“Albin has put in the work in the off season and I appreciate how much he is wanting to improve his game. We are more than halfway through the season and I have also enjoyed watching his confidence and mental game continue to improve. Albin will be participating in the Inland Empire Tournament in Spokane this coming weekend where I expect he will face some challenging matches.”
