The Cashmere Bulldogs fastpitch softball team continued its strong stretch of play on Friday, sweeping the Wapato Wolves in a SCAC doubleheader. Cashmere rolled to a 13-3 win in the opener and followed it up with a commanding 17-0 victory in game two. With the sweep, the Bulldogs have now won eight straight games and improve to 9-5 overall and 6-4 in SCAC play.
Cashmere wasted no time setting the tone in game one, erupting for six runs in the first inning and never looking back. The Bulldogs added three more runs in the second and continued to build their lead throughout the game to secure the run-rule victory.
The offense was explosive and balanced throughout the lineup. Gwen Ledesma led the charge with a huge day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, triple, three stolen bases, three runs scored, and four RBIs. Tryniti Collum added power to the lineup with a home run, finishing 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
Juliana Boyd went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while Reylin Boyd contributed a 2-for-3 performance with two runs, three stolen bases, and an RBI. Macie Zimmerman chipped in with a triple and two RBIs.
In the circle, Zimmerman started and was dominant, tossing three shutout innings while allowing just two hits and striking out four. Boyd came on in relief, working three innings and striking out two.
The Bulldogs carried their momentum into game two, delivering another overwhelming performance. Cashmere exploded for 10 runs in the first inning and added seven more in the second to quickly put the game out of reach.
Reylin Boyd was again a catalyst at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-2 with a double, four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBIs. Gwen Ledesma stayed hot, finishing 2-for-2 with two doubles and three RBIs.
Peyton Irelan contributed a 2-for-3 effort with a double, three stolen bases, and two RBIs, while Kat Hansch scored three runs and added a double and two RBIs. Contributions came from throughout the lineup, including hits from Jennifer Herrera, Macie Zimmerman, Ella Kenoyer, and Logan Hatmaker.
Cashmere’s pitching was flawless in game two. Zimmerman threw two scoreless innings with five strikeouts, and Boyd was perfect over the final three innings, not allowing a hit while striking out four.
