Seasons End in Heartbreak at Ron Doane Gymnasium

The 2025–2026 seasons came to a difficult close Tuesday night for the Cashmere Bulldogs boys and girls basketball teams at Ron Doane Gymnasium at Cashmere High School. With loser-out games on their home floor, both squads battled to the final buzzer but ultimately fell in gut-wrenching fashion.

Rangers Edge Bulldog Girls in Overtime Thriller

The Cashmere girls opened the evening with a hard-fought overtime loss to the Naches Valley Rangers, falling 35-33 in a defensive back-and-forth contest.

The Bulldogs set the tone early, leading 10-6 after the first quarter and carrying a 17-10 advantage into halftime. Cashmere handled Naches Valley’s trapping full-court defense effectively in the opening half and dictated the tempo with strong defensive play.

The Rangers, however, swung momentum in the third quarter. Naches Valley outscored Cashmere 15-4 in the period to take a 25-21 lead into the fourth.

Cashmere responded behind junior Addie Talley, who scored eight of her team-high 19 points in the final quarter. The Bulldogs clawed back and had a chance to win at the end of regulation, earning two free throws with one second remaining. Unable to convert, the game moved into overtime.

In the extra period, points were at a premium. The Rangers did just enough, outscoring Cashmere 3-1 to seal the 35-33 victory.

Talley delivered a dominant performance with 19 points, 19 rebounds, and three steals. Freshman Addi Lyons added five points and eight rebounds. Senior Ella Kenoyer contributed three crucial fourth-quarter points and three rebounds. Senior Alyssa Soria and junior Gwen Ledesma each chipped in three points and three rebounds, with Ledesma adding two steals. Juliana Boyd pulled down five rebounds.

The Lady Bulldogs close the season with a 13-10 record and will graduate seniors Alyssa Soria and Ella Kenoyer.

Wolves Pull Away Late from Bulldog Boys

In the nightcap, the Cashmere boys fell to the Wapato Wolves 52-40 after a tightly contested first three quarters.

Cashmere trailed 12-8 at the end of the first quarter and found themselves down 16-8 early in the second. The Bulldogs responded by turning up the defensive pressure, igniting a 9-0 run capped by a two-handed jam from senior Tobie Larson to take a 17-16 lead.

Cashmere held a slim 19-18 advantage at halftime as both teams struggled to find offensive rhythm. After three quarters, Wapato led 27-24 in what remained a defensive battle.

The fourth quarter belonged to the Wolves. Wapato heated up from beyond the arc, knocking down three three-pointers while outscoring the Bulldogs 25-16 in the final frame to pull away for the 52-40 win.

Larson closed his Bulldog career with a double-double, recording 15 points, 12 rebounds, and four steals. Fellow senior Tom McDevitt added 11 points, three rebounds, and two steals. Sophomore Jackson Binger contributed six points, six rebounds, and two assists, while sophomore Mac Carlson finished with five points, six rebounds, and four assists.

The Bulldogs finish the season 15-9. Cashmere will graduate four seniors who helped lead the program to 34 wins over the past two seasons: Tobie Larson, Tom McDevitt, Rylan Hatmaker, and Ethan Theiss.
