Brett Rubio (Soph.) – Boys Golf
Rubio is off to a scorching start this spring. For the second consecutive week, Rubio posted the lowest round for the Bulldogs, firing an impressive 81 at Suntides Golf Course in Yakima during a four-team SCAC event. His score ranked as the second-lowest individual round of the day and was highlighted by a stellar back nine, where he carded a 38 with a pair of birdies.
Rubio’s early-season consistency has been remarkable. He opened the season with an 84 at Desert Aire, which was the lowest score of that event, and has quickly established himself as one of the top golfers in the league. He is currently ranked 15th in the WIAA 1A state boys rankings.
Head coach Tyler Theiss credits Rubio’s success to his all-around development and work ethic.
“Brett has had a fantastic start to our 2026 spring golf season,” Theiss said. “His success can be attributed to the work he has put into all facets of his game—consistently driving the ball well, hitting greens in regulation, and avoiding three-putts. Beyond the results, I’ve received compliments from other golfers and coaches about his respectful and helpful attitude on the course.”
Tryniti Collum (Sr.) Fastpitch Softball
Collum made an immediate impact to open the fastpitch softball season, earning Athlete of the Week honors following a dominant performance at the plate.
Batting in the leadoff spot, Collum sparked the Bulldogs’ offense in their season opener against Brewster. She went 3-for-5 with a double and a triple, drove in three runs, scored three times, and added two stolen bases in Cashmere’s 16-2 victory in five innings.
Collum’s ability to get on base and create scoring opportunities set the tone for the entire lineup, showcasing her importance at the top of the order.
Head coach Steve Mongeon emphasized the value of her performance and what it means moving forward.
“Tryniti had a great start to the season for us in the leadoff spot,” Mongeon said. “She set the tone offensively. This will be a key to our success—having her on base consistently, stealing bases, and scoring runs.”
