The Cashmere High School girls swim team turned in a solid showing on Saturday at Wenatchee High School, competing against a deep field that included Wenatchee, Eastmont, Auburn Mountainview, Kennedy Catholic, and Tahoma.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs was senior Sophee Mott, who earned a fifth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.18 seconds. Mott also took fifth in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:11.26.
Eliana Thomas added to the team’s strong showing, placing sixth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:30.10) and seventh in the 100-yard freestyle (1:08.40). Halie James also had a standout meet, finishing eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:25.76) and ninth in the 50-yard freestyle (29.99).
Freshman Izzy Thomas swam her way to 12th place in the 100-yard freestyle (1:19.18), followed closely by teammate Penelope Felt in 13th (1:23.86). Bridget Byington rounded out the individual finishes with a 15th-place result in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:52.01).
In relay events, the Bulldogs’ 200-yard medley relay team—consisting of E. Thomas, I. Thomas, Mott, and Jordyn Joseph—secured a seventh-place finish with a time of 2:21.07. The 200-yard freestyle relay team (I. Thomas, Felt, Byington, Joseph) placed 12th at 2:25.84.
The Bulldogs will look to build on their performances when they travel to Davis High School in Yakima this Thursday.
