The Cashmere Bulldogs boys golf team made a strong showing Monday as they traveled to Mattawa for the SCAC Postseason Qualifying Tournament at Desert Aire Golf Course.

Competing against all nine SCAC teams, a total of 38 varsity golfers battled for a coveted top-18 finish to advance to next week’s District 5 Tournament. The Bulldogs rose to the challenge, placing four golfers inside the qualifying cut line.

Sophomore Brett Rubio led the way for Cashmere with an impressive round of 81, earning a 3rd-place overall finish. Junior David Odenrider followed closely, carding an 85 to place 6th. Sophomore Silas Kane secured 13th place with a 93, while senior Tobie Larson claimed the final qualifying spot for the Bulldogs, finishing 18th with a 97.

As a team, Cashmere delivered a solid performance, finishing 3rd overall with a combined score of 356. Royal took top honors with a 341, while Zillah placed 2nd at 345.

Additional contributors for the Bulldogs included senior Logan Spies, who shot a 107, and junior Colton Stendera, who finished with a 117.

With four golfers advancing, the Bulldogs will now turn their attention to the District 5 Tournament, set to take place next week at The Legacy Resort at Frenchman Hills in Othello.

Meanwhile, the Cashmere High School girls team will compete in their postseason qualifying tournament on Tuesday, also at Desert Aire Golf Course.
