The Cashmere Bulldogs boys wrestling team will be back on the mat this weekend as they compete in the 1st Annual 1A Dual State Tournament, set for Saturday, January 31st, at Wapato High School.
The event is sponsored by the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association and is not a WIAA state tournament, but it brings together some of the top 1A programs in the state for a full day of dual-meet competition.
A total of 14 teams qualified for Saturday’s tournament. To earn a spot, schools had to either place in the top eight at last season’s state tournament, win a league championship this season, or receive an at-large berth from the tournament committee.
Cashmere secured an automatic qualification after finishing fifth at the 1A state tournament last season, continuing the Bulldogs’ strong tradition on the mat.
The Bulldogs enter the tournament as the #4 seed and will open competition against Riverside in the first round.
