Cashmere Athletes Earn Top Honors in NCW Best of Preps Awards

The Wenatchee World continued its tradition of recognizing the top high school student-athletes from across North Central Washington with its second annual NCW Best of Preps Awards. Once again, the Cashmere Bulldogs were prominently represented among the region’s elite athletes, coaches, and teams.

Leading the way for Cashmere was senior quarterback Rylan Hatmaker, who guided the Bulldogs football team to the 1A State Championship Game. Hatmaker was named the NCW Football Athlete of the Year after an outstanding senior season. In addition to leading Cashmere to a state runner-up finish, Hatmaker earned First Team All-State honors at quarterback, cementing his place among the top players in Washington State.

In the spring, senior Tom McDevitt added another major honor to his impressive baseball career. McDevitt, a two-time SCAC Player of the Year, led the Bulldogs to a remarkable 24-2 season and was selected as the NCW Baseball Athlete of the Year.

On the soccer field, junior Brynne Patrick earned recognition as the NCW Girls Soccer Athlete of the Year. Patrick helped lead the Bulldogs to a 19-3 record and a trip to the state quarterfinals while earning First Team All-State honors as a forward.

The Bulldogs also had representation among the winter sports honorees, as junior wrestler Jance Novak was named the NCW Boys Wrestling Athlete of the Year. Novak has already established himself as one of the most accomplished wrestlers in school history, capturing back-to-back 1A state championships during his sophomore and junior seasons. With another year remaining in his high school career, Novak continues to add to an already impressive résumé.

Cashmere also received recognition in two of the award program’s top categories. The Cashmere Football Team was selected as the runner-up for NCW Team of the Year, while head football coach Bryan Bremer was named runner-up for NCW Coach of the Year following another outstanding season on the sidelines.

Athletes, coaches, and teams who participated in WIAA-sanctioned sports during the 2025-26 school year were eligible for consideration.  The Wenatchee World selected winners and runners-up in each sport, as well as in the prestigious Student-Athlete of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Team of the Year categories. Spring sport selections were based on statistics through mid-May.

The recognition of Hatmaker, McDevitt, Patrick, Novak, Coach Bremer, and the Cashmere football team highlights another exceptional year for Bulldog athletics and showcases the dedication, talent, and success of Cashmere student-athletes on the regional stage. The honors reflect not only individual excellence but also the strength of Cashmere’s athletic programs, which continue to compete at the highest levels throughout North Central Washington and the state.
