The Cashmere Bulldogs were represented by three golfers at the WIAA 1A State Golf Tournament at MeadowWood Golf Course in Liberty Lake on Tuesday, competing against 60 of the top golfers from around the state in both the boys and girls tournaments.
The top 30 golfers after Monday’s opening round advanced to Wednesday’s championship round.
In the boys tournament, sophomore Brett Rubio narrowly missed the cut after carding an 86. Rubio opened with a 42 on the front nine and followed with a 44 on the back nine to finish four strokes above the cut line of 82.
Junior David Odenrider also competed for the Bulldogs, shooting a 93 for the round. Odenrider posted a 45 on the front nine and a 48 on the back nine.
On the girls side, freshman Carly Boyd shot a 104 in her state tournament debut. Boyd recorded consistent rounds of 52 on both the front and back nine. The cut line for the girls tournament was 96.
Although none of the Bulldogs advanced to the championship round, qualifying for the state tournament marked an impressive accomplishment for all three golfers. Cashmere was well represented on the state stage, with Rubio, Odenrider, and Boyd competing against the best 1A golfers in Washington.
