The Cashmere Bulldogs boys and girls tennis teams closed out the regular season in dominant fashion on Friday, traveling to Connell for their final SCAC matchup. Both squads delivered commanding 5-0 victories, capping off impressive seasons with SCAC regular season titles.
The Cashmere girls continued their perfect run through conference play, improving to 14-0 in SCAC action and 17-0 overall. The Bulldogs showcased their depth and consistency across the lineup. In singles play, Freya Dronen controlled her first singles match with a 6-1, 6-1 win, while Kate Croci followed with a strong 6-0, 6-1 victory in second singles.
Cashmere’s doubles teams were equally dominant. Hazel Schade and Lucy Ray cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win in first doubles, while Eliana Thomas and Autumn Todd secured a 6-0, 6-2 victory in second doubles. In third doubles, Ellie Creiglow and Gloria Smith battled to a 7-5 win in the opening set before taking the match via forfeit in the second.
The Cashmere boys matched the girls’ performance with a 5-0 sweep of their own, finishing the regular season with a 13-1 SCAC record and 14-2 overall. Albin Eskew led the way in first singles, earning a decisive 6-0, 6-2 victory. Alonso Mendoza-Rojas added another point in second singles with a solid 6-4, 6-4 win.
In doubles play, Wyatt Nelson and Quentin Christensen dominated first doubles with a 6-2, 6-1 win. Brothers Jackson and Kamren Meloy were equally impressive in second doubles, rolling to a 6-1, 6-0 victory. The Bulldogs picked up the final point via forfeit in third doubles.
With both teams securing SCAC regular season titles, the Bulldogs now turn their attention to postseason play. Cashmere will compete in the District 5 Tournament beginning Saturday, May 9th at Quincy High School, where they will look to continue their outstanding seasons.
