The Cashmere Bulldogs boys soccer team continued its strong run of form Friday night, cruising past the Granger Spartans 6-1 in SCAC action on the road.
With the victory, Cashmere has now won five straight matches, improving to 6-1 in league play and 7-1-1 overall.
The Bulldogs wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Just nine minutes into the match, senior Ethan Theiss found the back of the net off an assist from Alejandro Serna Rojas to give Cashmere an early 1-0 lead. Six minutes later, a dangerous cross from Serna Rojas led to an own goal by Granger, doubling the advantage.
Cashmere kept the pressure on in the first half. In the 22nd minute, freshman Yelko Diaz connected with Gio Acevedo Mata for the Bulldogs’ third goal. At the 30-minute mark, Serna Rojas added another assist—this time setting up sophomore Alex Batanoiu to make it 4-0 heading into halftime.
The Bulldogs picked up right where they left off after the break. Eight minutes into the second half, sophomore Tommy Batanoiu delivered a well-placed assist to Serna Rojas, who finished in the box to extend the lead to 5-0.
Granger broke through for its lone goal in the final 15 minutes, but Cashmere quickly responded. Alex Batanoiu capped the scoring by finding Serna Rojas for his second goal of the night, sealing the 6-1 victory.
Cashmere saw strong performances throughout the lineup. Tommy Batanoiu, Edgar Reyna, JJ Herrera, and Manny Urrutia controlled the midfield, while Alex Batanoiu made a big impact up top. Gio Acevedo Mata, Ethan Theiss, and Serna Rojas also turned in standout efforts in the win.
Next Up: The Bulldogs return to action Saturday when they host the Brewster Bears (5-2) at 1:00 p.m.
