The Cashmere Bulldogs will send 27 athletes to compete at the WIAA 1A State Track and Field Championships this week at Zaepfel Stadium in Yakima.
The three-day state meet begins Thursday afternoon and continues through Saturday, May 28-30, with Cashmere athletes competing across a wide range of events on both the boys and girls sides.
Leading the Bulldogs boys squad is sprinter Isaac Zavala, who qualified in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash events while also contributing to the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams. Jack Binger earned a state berth in the 400 meters and will also run on the 4×400 relay squad.
Distance runner Rylan Reiber qualified in the 1600 meters, while Connor Diaz advanced in the 110-meter hurdles and will also be part of both relay pools.
Cashmere qualified relay teams in both the boys 4×100 and 4×400 events. Athletes listed in the relay pools include Ty Cockrum, Caleb Dillin, Isaiah Black, Isaac Zavala, Kenyon Shabazz, Connor Diaz, Braylon Rubio, Cole McKenna and Callen Pipkin.
In the field events, Joseph Acton qualified in both the shot put and discus, Kaleb Thayer advanced in the javelin, and pole vaulters Zane Pace and Ryan Thayer earned state berths. Ty Cockrum also qualified in the long jump.
On the girls side, Brynne Patrick qualified in both the 100 and 200-meter dash events and will also run on relay teams. Mackenzie Van Bogart advanced in both the 800 and 1600-meter runs.
Taylor Kunz and Millie Flick each qualified in the 100-meter hurdles, while Kiana Baty earned a state berth in the 300 hurdles.
The Bulldogs girls team also qualified relay squads in the 4×100 and 4×200 races. Relay athletes include Kiana Baty, Avril Guerrero, Brynne Patrick, Taylor Kunz, Calene Bray, Danna Infante, Kinsley Miller, Quinn Pace and Millie Flick.
In field events, Taylor Kunz qualified in both the shot put and long jump, while Allie Neff and Makelah Gatens advanced in the pole vault.
Competition begins Thursday afternoon in Yakima, with state championships to be decided through Saturday afternoon.
