The Cashmere Bulldogs girls basketball team opens postseason play Thursday night, hosting a first-round matchup in the District 5 1A Tournament at Cashmere High School’s Ron Doane Gymnasium.
The No. 4–seeded Bulldogs (12–8) will take on the No. 5–seeded Cascade Kodiaks (13–7) with tipoff scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
About the matchup
Cashmere enters the tournament after finishing fourth in the SCAC with a 10–6 conference record. Cascade comes in as the Caribou Trail League champion and brings momentum into the postseason, riding a five-game winning streak.
The teams met earlier this season in non-conference play, with the Bulldogs earning a convincing 52–38 victory in early January.
Cashmere is led by junior Addie Talley, who averages a double-double with 12.8 points and 13.1 rebounds per game. Junior Gwen Ledesma has also been a key contributor, averaging seven points, four rebounds, and two steals per contest, and will play an important role in the Bulldogs’ postseason push.
What’s next
The winner of Thursday’s game will advance to face the winner of the No. 1 Zillah vs. No. 8 Kiona-Benton matchup on Saturday. The loser will also play Saturday, facing the loser of that contest. The top seed hosts games throughout the tournament.
