Bulldogs Head to District Swim Meet in Pullman

The Cashmere Bulldogs girls swim team will travel to Pullman this weekend to compete in the District 5/6 1A/2A Swim Meet, held Friday and Saturday at Gibb Pool on the campus of Washington State University. Competition both days will run from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Bulldogs will have five swimmers representing Cashmere at the district meet. The top two finishers in each event will advance to the WIAA 1A/2A State Meet later this month.

Cashmere’s 200-yard medley relay team of Sophee Mott, Jordyn Joseph, Haile James, and Eliana Thomas enters districts seeded fourth overall out of seven teams. The Bulldogs’ 200-yard freestyle relay squad (James, Joseph, E. Thomas, Mott) is seeded sixth.

Individually, Sophee Mott (1:07.82) is seeded fourth among 22 swimmers in the 100-yard backstroke. Haile James (1:22.73) is seeded eighth out of 26 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Eliana Thomas (2:30.10) holds the 10th seed in the 200-yard freestyle and is also seeded eighth in the 500-yard freestyle (6:36.29).
Jordyn Joseph (32.17) enters seeded 22nd in the 50-yard freestyle and 26th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:45.43).
Izzy Thomas rounds out the Bulldogs’ lineup, seeded 20th (1:16.57) in the 100-yard freestyle.

The WIAA 1A/2A State Swimming and Diving Championships will be held November 14–15 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. Cashmere’s Sophee Mott has already qualified for the state diving competition, and this weekend she and her teammates will look to add more state-qualifying swims to their season.
