The Cashmere Bulldogs continued their dominant start to the 2025 football season with a commanding 63-0 win over the visiting Wahluke Warriors on Thursday night. The victory moves the Bulldogs to 4-0, and remarkably, they’ve yet to allow a single point this season, outscoring their opponents by a staggering combined score of 251-0.
The outcome was never in doubt, as Cashmere erupted for 49 first-quarter points behind an explosive offense and a swarming defense that overwhelmed Wahluke from the opening kickoff.
Senior quarterback Rylan Hatmaker wasted no time putting points on the board, tossing three touchdown passes in the first quarter alone. Two of those went to senior receiver Logan Spies—an 18-yard strike and a 25-yard connection—while the third was a 15-yard dart to senior Tom McDevitt.
Cashmere’s ground game was just as effective. Senior Isaac Zavala broke loose on a reverse for a 47-yard touchdown, and senior Thomas Bergren added a 6-yard rushing score. The defense joined the scoring spree as well—sophomore Ethan Bessonette returned an interception 20 yards for a touchdown, and senior Prin Fox fell on a fumble in the end zone for his first career score.
By the end of the first quarter, the Bulldogs had built a 49-0 lead, and the starters saw limited action the rest of the way.
Bessonette added his second touchdown of the night in the second quarter with a 3-yard run, and freshman Jayce McMahon showcased his speed with a 37-yard touchdown burst. The Bulldogs led 63-0 at halftime, and the second half was played under a running clock.
Defensively, Cashmere was nothing short of dominant. The Bulldogs forced eight turnovers, including six interceptions. Bessonette, McDevitt, Jackson Binger, Cole McKenna, Keenan Knoll, and Colton Stendera all recorded picks. The Warriors were held to 0-for-12 passing with six interceptions and mustered just 58 yards on 33 rushing attempts.
Freshman Callen Pipkin took over at quarterback in the second half and tallied 25 rushing yards on seven carries. Sophomore Mac Carlson, who was under center in the 2nd quarter, added 14 yards on two carries. Zavala (47 yards) and McMahon (37 yards) led the Bulldogs in rushing with one touchdown apiece.
Hatmaker, in limited action for the fourth straight game, was sharp and efficient, completing all five of his passes for 87 yards and three touchdowns. Spies finished with four receptions for 74 yards and two scores. McDevitt, David Odenrider (17 yards), and Connor Diaz (5 yards) each added a reception.
Now, all eyes turn to next Friday night’s showdown in Royal City, where the Bulldogs will face the top-ranked Royal Knights in what will be the most anticipated matchup of the regular season.
Royal (4-0) has long been the gold standard in Washington’s 1A football, winning five consecutive state titles and eight of the last nine 1A state titles. Since 1996, the Knights have captured 13 state championships and appeared in two additional state title games. Last season, Royal defeated Cashmere twice, including a semifinal matchup en route to yet another crown.
The upcoming clash features two undefeated teams and pits No. 1 (Royal) against No. 3 (Cashmere) in the latest Washington State Football Coaches Association rankings. With revenge on their minds and momentum at their backs, the Bulldogs will aim to prove they belong among the state’s elite.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM Friday night (October 3rd) in Royal City.
