The Cashmere Bulldogs girls soccer team put on a commanding performance Thursday night, shutting out the visiting Connell Eagles 8-0 in a SCAC matchup that was called after 60 minutes due to the WIAA mercy rule.
The Bulldogs wasted no time asserting control, scoring three goals in the first six minutes of play. Brynne Patrick opened the scoring, quickly followed by Alyssa Soria and Makelah Gatens, who found the net on three of Cashmere’s first four shots.
The offensive pressure continued throughout the first half, with Ellie Van Winkle and Erin Irelan each adding goals to extend the lead to 5-0 at halftime.
Cashmere stayed aggressive in the second half, with Addie Talley, Elle Jacobson, and Gwen Ledesma all scoring in the 49th, 54th, and 56th minutes, respectively. Ledesma had an outstanding all-around performance, contributing a game-high three assists in addition to her goal.
In total, eight different Bulldogs scored in the match—a remarkable feat that highlights the team’s depth and attacking versatility.
Defensively, the Bulldogs were just as dominant. Goalkeeper Ellie Creiglow secured her third shutout of the season, while defenders Tryniti Collum, Quinn Pace, and Anna Flick anchored a backline that allowed just one shot on goal all night.
The win improves Cashmere’s record to 5-0 in SCAC play and 5-1 overall.
Next up, the Bulldogs will hit the road for a highly anticipated rematch of last year’s District Championship against the Naches Valley Rangers. Kickoff is scheduled for Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
