XC Results: Bulldogs Tackle Tough Terrain at King’s Cross Invitational

The Cashmere Bulldogs cross-country team made the trek over the Cascade Mountains on Saturday to compete at the annual King’s Cross Invitational, hosted by King’s High School in Shoreline. Under clear, sunny skies, the Bulldogs battled a challenging two-lap course known as the “roller coaster” trail, featuring a mix of hills and twists that tested every runner’s endurance and strategy.

Girls Varsity Race

In a field of 87 runners, the Lady Bulldogs placed 7th out of nine complete teams. Leading the way was Maggie Butcher, who crossed the finish line in 20th place with a time of 22:35.6. She was followed closely by Annika Peterson in 27th (23:36.5) and Danna Infante, who secured 34th (24:35.0). Rounding out the top five scorers for Cashmere were Victoria Black in 52nd (26:29.0) and Vansee Wheeler in 59th (26:55.0).

Boys Varsity Race

The boys team faced stiff competition in their race of 69 runners, finishing 8th among 10 full squads. Rylan Reiber led the Bulldogs with a strong 20th-place finish in 18:22.9, while Emmett Brown set a new personal record for the 3-mile distance, clocking 18:39.1 to take 28th. Cody Albright followed in 38th (18:55.8), with Oscar Green (60th, 20:17.0) and Sammy Cantrell (65th, 20:34.0) rounding out the scoring five.

Looking Ahead

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Wednesday, October 1, at Wahluke for their first SCAC league meet of the season. With points on the line for the league championship, it will be a key opportunity for Cashmere to make an early impact in the standings.
