Volleyball: Cashmere Stays Perfect in Conference Play with Sweep at Zillah

The Cashmere Bulldogs continued their dominant run through SCAC play Thursday night, sweeping the Zillah Leopards on the road in convincing fashion: 25-17, 25-8, 25-18.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 8-0 in conference play and 8-1 overall. Even more impressively, they have yet to drop a single set against a league opponent this season.

The Bulldogs showed no signs of a hangover after their lone loss of the year, a non-league defeat at Chelan on Monday. Instead, they responded with a sharp, focused performance on both sides of the net.

Junior standout Macie Smart led the charge with a dominant all-around effort — tallying 14 kills, 3 aces, 2 blocks, and zero errors in serve receive. She was backed by a strong supporting cast, including juniors Teagan Kerns and Taylor Kunz. Kerns went 14-for-14 at the service line with 3 aces and 5 kills, while Kunz was perfect serving (8/8) and added 7 kills and 5 digs.

Senior Hazel Schade chipped in 6 kills, a block, and was flawless on serve (4/4), while junior Faith Courtney delivered 5 kills, 3 blocks, and 6-for-6 serving. Libero Mandy Barba anchored the defense with 6 digs and 2 aces, and junior setter Cali Diaz orchestrated the offense with 27 assists, 2 aces, 3 kills, a block, and 4 digs.

As a team, the Bulldogs were a sharp 92% from the service line and racked up 12 aces on the night.

Cashmere (8-1) will look to keep its SCAC streak alive on Saturday when it travels to face College Place (5-4).
