The Cashmere Bulldogs closed out their cross country season in impressive fashion Saturday at the WIAA 1A State Championships, held at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco. Three Bulldog runners — two girls and one boy — represented Cashmere on the state stage and turned in strong performances to cap memorable seasons.
The girls 1A race kicked off at 10:00 a.m., with freshman Allie Neff and sophomore Maggie Butcher both posting personal-best times.
Neff shined in her state debut, finishing 25th overall out of 152 runners with a time of 20:26.30 on the 5K course — a new personal record. She also ranked as the fourth-fastest freshman in the entire 1A field. Neff ran a smart and steady race, sitting 21st at the one-mile mark and 27th at two miles before closing strong to secure a top-25 finish.
Butcher, competing in her second consecutive state meet, delivered a breakout performance as well. She placed 60th overall with a time of 21:26.10, also a personal record and her first-ever sub-22-minute 5K. The improvement from her 2024 state finish — 99th place in 22:35.8 — highlights her tremendous growth and determination this season.
On the boys’ side, junior Rylan Reiber made his third straight state appearance, placing 123rd out of 155 runners with a time of 18:47.30. His consistency and leadership have been key assets for the Bulldogs’ program over the past three years.
It was a strong showing all around for Cashmere. Congratulations to Allie, Maggie, and Rylan on an outstanding season!
