The Cashmere Bulldogs girls basketball will hit the road Saturday night for the District 5 Tournament semifinals, traveling to Zillah for a winner-to-state matchup against the top-seeded Zillah Leopards girls basketball.
The No. 4–seeded Bulldogs (13–8) will take on the No. 1–seeded Leopards (20–2), with tipoff scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Alumni Gym at Zillah Middle School, located at Zillah Middle School.
About the Matchup
Cashmere enters the semifinal following a 38–32 victory over the No. 5–seeded Cascade Kodiaks on Thursday.
Standing in the Bulldogs’ way is a Zillah squad currently ranked No. 1 in the state. The Leopards have already defeated Cashmere twice this season and are led by sophomore post Makenna Klitzke, who leads the SCAC in scoring at more than 19 points per game.
What’s at Stake
The winner of Saturday night’s semifinal advances to the District Championship Game on Feb. 20, where they will face the winner of the other semifinal between the No. 3–seeded Wapato Wolves and the No. 2–seeded Royal Knights.
The losing team will still have a chance to continue its postseason run, hosting a loser-out game Tuesday (Feb. 17) against the winner of the matchup between the No. 6–seeded Naches Valley Rangers and the No. 7–seeded Omak Pioneers.Â
