CHS Girls Wrestlers Earn Two Titles at Connell Invitational

The Cashmere Bulldogs girls wrestling team competed at the Connell Invitational on Saturday at Connell High School, finishing ninth overall in a strong 32-team field. Chiawana claimed the team championship, followed by Selah in second and Wapato in third.

Cashmere was led by a pair of junior champions, as Tori Black and Sydney Mazur each captured titles in their respective weight classes with dominant performances.

Black won the 120-pound championship, pinning all four of her opponents on the day. She capped off her tournament with a first-round pin in the finals and improved her season record to 19–5.

Mazur was equally impressive at 170 pounds, also winning all four of her matches by pin to take home the title. The junior now stands at 25–6 on the season.

Freshman Abril Alvarado turned in a strong showing at 235 pounds, placing fourth overall in her weight class and narrowly missing the podium’s top spots.

The Bulldogs also had three additional medalists. Freshman Taylor Van Winkle placed fifth at 155 pounds after going 3–2 on the day. She secured fifth place with a hard-fought 1–0 decision in her final match and improved her season record to 16–12. Senior Rylee Snodgrass matched that result at 140 pounds, also finishing fifth with a 3–2 record on the day and moving to 15–14 this season. Junior Vansee Wheeler placed sixth at 120 pounds, winning two of her matches by pin.

Cashmere also picked up valuable wins throughout the tournament from Litzy Herredia (120), Ruby Edwards (125), and Becx Chavez-Mora (125).

With multiple champions and medalists in a deep field, the Bulldogs continued to show steady progress as the postseason approaches.

Next up: Cashmere will travel to Royal on Wednesday for a SCAC mix-and-match event.
