CHS Boys Wrestling Eyes Tacoma as District Tournament Begins

The Cashmere Bulldogs boys wrestling team will begin their postseason journey this week as they compete in the District 5 1A Wrestling Tournament, with the goal of earning spots at the WIAA 1A State Championships.

Cashmere will send 23 wrestlers to the two-day, state-qualifying tournament, which opens Wednesday at Wapato High School and concludes Saturday at Connell High School. The top seven finishers in each weight class will advance to the 1A state tournament, set for February 20–21 in the Tacoma Dome.

Day one of competition begins Wednesday, February 11, with weigh-ins scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and first-round matches starting at 4:00 p.m. at Wapato High School. The 32-man brackets will be wrestled through the first two championship rounds and the first two consolation rounds. The tournament resumes Saturday, February 14, at 11:00 a.m. at Connell High School, where champions and state qualifiers will be decided.

The Bulldogs will face a competitive field that includes wrestlers from Cascade, Chelan, College Place, Connell, Kiona-Benton, Naches Valley, Omak, Royal, Wahluke, Wapato and Zillah.

With a large group competing and multiple state berths on the line, Cashmere will look to make a strong showing across the brackets as they aim to send as many wrestlers as possible to Tacoma.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Online tickets can be purchased through Go Fan Ticketing.
