Cashmere’s Sophee Mott Shines at 1A/2A State Swimming & Diving Championships

Cashmere senior Sophee Mott closed out her high school swimming and diving career with an outstanding performance at the 1A/2A State Championships at the King County Aquatic Center on Friday and Saturday, earning a top-five state finish and posting a season-best swim.

Mott began her meet in the 100 Backstroke, where she entered as the No. 22 seed. She delivered her fastest race of the season, clocking a 1:08.99—a time that propelled her up two spots to 20th overall, capping her senior year with a strong finish in the pool.

In diving, Mott entered the state field as the No. 6 seed but faced early adversity on Friday, finishing the opening round in 10th place heading into Saturday’s finals. With composure and determination, she mounted a remarkable comeback. Mott executed three beautiful and technically strong dives in the championship round, surging up the standings and boosting her total to 191.85—her second-highest score of the season.

The performance earned Mott an impressive 5th Place finish in the 11-dive state final, matching the best divers in Washington and showcasing her resilience on the biggest stage of the year.

Congratulations to Sophee Mott on an outstanding season and a fantastic state meet performance!
