Cashmere Track and Field Dominates Five-Team Meet

The Cashmere High School track and field teams put on a commanding performance on Tuesday as they hosted a five-school meet featuring Caribou Trail League members Cascade, Chelan, Omak, and SCAC member Wahluke. Both the boys and girls teams came away with convincing victories.

The Cashmere boys topped the team standings with 208 points, well ahead of second-place Wahluke (44), third-place Omak (41), fourth-place Chelan (39), and fifth-place Cascade (21). The Cashmere girls also captured first place with 166 points, followed by Omak (78), Chelan (59), Cascade (36), and Wahluke (21).

Cashmere athletes were dominant across multiple events. In the sprints, Isaac Zavala led the boys in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, winning both with times of 11.54 and 23.47 seconds, while Caleb Dillin placed 2nd in both events.  Brynne Patrick anchored the girls’ sprint squad with a first-place 100-meter dash (13.38) and a second-place finish in the 200 meters (28.71).

Middle-distance events also highlighted Cashmere’s depth. Rylan Reiber swept the boys’ 800-, 1,600-, and 3,200-meter races, while Emmett Brown added top-three finishes in the 800 and 1,600 meters. On the girls’ side, Mackenzie Van Bogart captured first in the 800 meters, and Allie Neff won the 1,600 meters.

In hurdle events, Connor Diaz and Edison Server paced the boys with wins in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, while Taylor Kunz and Amelia Flick led the girls in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles.

Cashmere’s relay teams were equally impressive. The boys’ 4×100 and 4×400 relays, along with the girls’ 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 relays, all claimed first-place finishes, showcasing the depth and coordination of the squads.

Field events saw strong performances as well. Joseph Acton and Carson Potter led the boys in shot put and discus, while Kaleb Thayer earned second in the javelin. On the girls’ side, Taylor Kunz took first in shot put, with Leela Flick following closely behind. High jump, pole vault, long jump, and triple jump also featured multiple podium finishes for Cashmere athletes, including Isaac Zavala, Connor Diaz, Taylor VanWinkle, and Makelah Gatens.

The Bulldogs will return to SCAC competition on April 15 at Wapato for the first conference meet of the season, looking to build on their dominant showing at home.
