The 2026 season came to an end Saturday for the Cashmere Bulldogs tennis team on the final day of the 1A State Tennis Tournament at the Yakima Tennis Club.

Cashmere sophomore Albin Eskew competed in the boys singles bracket after going 1-1 during Friday’s state tournament action. Entering Saturday, Eskew needed a victory in a loser-out match to advance to the 3rd/4th place match later in the day. However, his impressive postseason run came to an end as he fell to Alec Pa of Charles Wright Academy by scores of 6-0, 6-1.

Despite the loss, Eskew capped off a tremendous sophomore campaign. He was named the SCAC Boys Tennis Player of the Year and claimed his second consecutive district championship in boys singles, further establishing himself as one of the top young players in the state.

In girls doubles action, Cashmere seniors Hazel Schade and Lucy Ray found themselves in a similar position after also going 1-1 in tournament play on Friday. The Bulldog duo needed a win Saturday morning to earn an opportunity to compete for third and fourth place, but they were defeated by Happe and Singh of Eastside Prep in a tightly contested match, 7-6, 7-5.

Schade and Ray wrapped up outstanding seasons and decorated careers in the Cashmere tennis program. Both seniors earned First Team All-SCAC honors this season and were members of last year’s district championship doubles team.

The Bulldogs were well represented throughout the weekend by a talented group of state qualifiers. This year’s CHS state participants included Eskew, Ray, Schade, Freya Dronen, Wyatt Nelson, and Quentin Christensen.

Cashmere’s strong showing at the state tournament capped another successful season for the Bulldogs tennis program and highlighted the hard work and dedication of its athletes throughout the year.
