Cashmere Basketball Sweeps Cascade in Leavenworth

The Cashmere Bulldogs boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Leavenworth on Friday night for a pair of non-conference matchups against the Cascade Kodiaks, and both squads returned home with convincing victories.

The evening opened with the Cashmere girls taking on a tough Cascade team. After a close first quarter, the Bulldogs steadily pulled away and earned a 52–35 road win. With the victory, Cashmere improved to 6–2 on the season.

Cashmere held a slim 7–6 lead after one quarter before finding their rhythm in the second. The Bulldogs outscored Cascade 17–8 in the period to take a 24–14 lead into halftime. Cashmere continued to build its advantage in the second half, leading 34–23 after three quarters and closing strong in the fourth to seal the win.

Junior Addie Talley led the way with a dominant performance, finishing with 15 points and 16 rebounds while adding three steals. Junior Gwen Ledesma continued her strong play, scoring 13 points to go along with five rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Sophomore Juliana Boyd chipped in nine points, four rebounds, and two assists, while sophomore Peyton Irelan knocked down a pair of three-pointers to finish with six points. Senior Ella Kenoyer added five points, and freshman Addi Lyons contributed four points, three rebounds, and two steals.

The Cashmere boys followed with a dominant performance of their own, overwhelming the Kodiaks 62–9. The Bulldogs improved to 4–4 on the season with the lopsided win.

Cashmere set the tone early, jumping out to a 21–0 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs threatened a first-half shutout before Cascade banked in a three-pointer late in the second quarter. Cashmere carried a commanding 44–3 lead into halftime, triggering a running clock for the entire second half under the 40-point mercy rule. The Bulldogs outscored Cascade 16–6 in the third quarter and 2–0 in the fourth.

Sophomore Mac Carlson led Cashmere with a team-high 14 points, scoring 12 of those in the first half. He also added five rebounds and six steals. Senior Tom McDevitt contributed 13 points while pulling down a team-high eight rebounds and recording a team-high seven steals. Senior Tobie Larson also scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds. Junior Colton Stendera finished with eight points and four assists, while sophomore Elijah Davidson added seven points and six rebounds. Sophomore Jackson Binger chipped in four points and three steals, and sophomore Jack Baker added three points and four assists.

Both Bulldog teams will now turn their attention to Saturday’s SCAC matchups against Wahluke. The Cashmere boys will face a Wahluke squad that enters the game with a 5–5 record, while the girls will look to extend their winning streak to three games against the Warriors, who are 1–9 on the season.
