The Cashmere Bulldogs sent seven golfers to Legacy Resort at Frenchman Hills in Othello on Wednesday to compete in the District 5 Tournament, with the top 11 boys and top 11 girls earning berths to the 1A State Tournament beginning next Tuesday at MeadowWood Golf Course in Liberty Lake.

Despite battling constant gusty winds and occasional rain throughout the day, the Bulldogs had an impressive showing and will send three golfers to the state tournament.

Sophomore Brett Rubio turned in an outstanding performance, shooting a 77 to finish second overall in the boys division and comfortably secure his spot at state.

Junior David Odenrider also punched his ticket to the state tournament with a strong finish to his round. Odenrider shot an 87, tying for seventh overall. He carded a 40 on the back nine and made par on four of his final five holes to clinch his state berth.

Freshman Carly Boyd qualified for state on the girls side after shooting a 108, finishing tied for 10th overall.

Senior Alyssa Soria placed 17th overall, while freshman Maya Cohen finished 18th overall.

As a team, the Cashmere boys placed fourth overall in the tournament. Sophomore Silas Kane shot a 97 to place 21st overall, and senior Tobie Larson finished with a 101 to place 24th overall.

Congratulations to Brett Rubio, David Odenrider, and Carly Boyd, who will represent Cashmere High School next week at the 1A State Golf Tournament.
